How did Match 25 of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 go between Sri Lanka Women and Scotland Women?

Sri Lanka Women secured a narrow three-wicket victory over the hugely impressive Scotland Women side in their final group stage match at Old Trafford in Manchester on Friday, June 26. The Lankans chased down 152 runs in the second innings on the penultimate delivery to keep their extremely slim qualification chances alive.

Sri Lanka decided to field first after winning the toss. Scotland had a decent start to their innings, thanks to the in-form Darcey Carter, who scored 34, after losing Katherine Fraser early in the powerplay. They went on to register 151 runs from 20 overs, following Sarah Bryce's flurry of boundaries towards the end.

In reply, Sri Lanka lost two wickets in the powerplay, but not after talismanic captain Chamari Athapaththu scored a quick-fire 33 off 16 balls whilst opening the batting. Despite losing their way a little in the middle overs, thanks to Scotland's collective bowling efforts, the Lankan outfit chased down the total, with Nilakshika Silva staying at the crease till the end.
