Scotland out of FIFA World Cup; coach Steve Clarke resigns.

Scotland was playing the World Cup for the first time since 1998

Charlotte. Coach Steve Clarke has announced his resignation following Scotland’s exit from the World Cup, despite signing a new four-year deal a month earlier.

Scotland crashed out of the race for the last 32 with Croatia’s 2-1 win over Ghana on Saturday. Under Clarke as coach, Scotland played in the World Cup for the first time since 1998 and also qualified for the European Championship twice.

“Scotland’s players deserve this love and appreciation,” Clarke said in an emotional letter to Scotland fans. It was a matter of pride to be his coach. Best wishes to the future coach. Scotland were defeated 3-0 by Brazil in the last group match. They also failed to make it into the best third-place teams. Senegal got the place because of its better goal average.

Scotland’s only win was 1-0 over Haiti. Morocco and Brazil defeated him.
