IPL 2024 Final Match Playing Condition : The final match of IPL 2024 will be played on 26 May. The team of Kolkata Knight Riders has reached the final, while the second team is awaited. The second team going to the final will be decided by the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. Whichever team wins this match will go to the final. At the same time, amidst all this, a big question in the minds of the fans is that if the final match is canceled due to rain, then which team will be declared the winner.
No reserve day was kept for the playoff matches of IPL 2024. If it rained then an attempt would be made to hold the match on the same day but if it rained continuously then the match would be canceled and the team which was on top in the points table would be declared the winner.
However, a reserve day has been kept for the IPL final. If it rains continuously on 26 May and the match is not possible, then an attempt will be made to hold it on the next day i.e. 27 May. If it rains on the second day as well, then 2 hours of extra time will be taken. If the match is not completed even during this extra time, then the umpires will try to conduct a match of 5-5 overs. If the match of even 5 overs is not possible, then there will be a super over and if the super over is also not possible due to continuous rain, then the match will be declared cancelled. In such a situation, the team which is at the top in the points table will be declared the winner.
This means that if the final match is cancelled due to rain and the match is not played on the reserve day, then KKR will be declared the winner of IPL 2024 as they were at the top of the points table. In such a situation, the team that will be in the final, Sunrisers or Rajasthan, will lose the trophy without playing a match.
