Delhi: In the second semi-final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, England performed brilliantly and defeated South Africa by 40 runs and secured their place in the title match. In this match played at The Oval, England, batting first, scored 169 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the South African team could score only 129 runs after losing 8 wickets in the stipulated overs. Now England will face Australia in the final on 5th July.

After the initial setbacks, Nate Sciver Brunt and Heather Knight took over the innings.

England’s start was not good at all. The team lost its three important wickets till the score of just 23 runs, due to which South Africa seemed to be in a strong position in the match. In such difficult times, captain Nate Sciver Brunt and Heather Knight took the responsibility on their shoulders.

Both the batsmen started with patience and then gradually increased the run rate and put pressure on the South African bowlers. There was an excellent partnership of 133 runs between the two for the fourth wicket, which took England to a strong score.

Nate Sciver Brunt played captaincy innings in the return match

Nate Sciver Brunt, who was out of the last three matches due to a calf injury, performed brilliantly upon his return. He played a brilliant inning of 75 runs in 47 balls and batted with full confidence. Aggressive shots and excellent timing were seen in his batting.

On the other hand, Heather Knight also supported the captain fully by scoring 58 runs in 47 balls. The partnership between the two completely changed England’s innings and the team reached a respectable score.

England’s fielding became the biggest strength of victory

After batting, England also performed brilliantly on the field. The team’s fielding appeared very agile throughout the match and the players made excellent efforts on many important occasions.
