Lucknow: Former Australian batsman and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) head coach Justin Langer has refused to become the head coach of the Indian team. Let us tell you that he has refused to take this post on the advice of Lucknow captain and star batsman KL Rahul. Actually, at present Rahul Dravid is the head coach of Team India and his tenure is ending after the ICC T-20 World Cup 2024. In such a situation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had invited applications for the post of head coach. The last date for application has been kept as 27 May 2024.

Langer's name was also included in the race to become India's head coach but now he has distanced himself from it and has refused to become the head coach of Team India. Let us tell you that earlier former Australian captain Ricky Ponting had also rejected this offer and he cited spending time with family as the reason behind it. Now Justin Langer has also joined this list. However, the reason given by Langer during the conversation with BBC is shocking.

He said, “I was talking to KL Rahul and he told me, if you think there is pressure and politics while coaching an IPL team, then multiply it a thousand times for Team India. This is how the Indian team is coached.”

Let us tell you that if various media reports are to be believed, BCCI had also discussed with Langer for the post of head coach but now he has excluded himself from it. However, if reports are to be believed, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Stephen Fleming remains the Indian Cricket Board's first choice and BCCI wants to hand him the responsibility of coaching the Men in Blue. So many veteran players believe that the head coach of India should be from India only and there is no need for foreign coaches for this.

Rahul Dravid's tenure is going to end after June and BCCI is not in favor of extending his tenure. However, if he wants, he can apply for this post again but Dravid is also not interested in working on this post now and he will not apply for it again. Apart from this, if reports are to be believed, former Indian opener and current Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gautam Gambhir is also in the race for the role of head coach, but now it will be interesting to see who is selected for this post.
