Australia played one of the most one-sided finals in the history of the T20 World Cup, securing a seven-wicket win over the arch-rivals England at Lord’s. Chasing 151 runs, the Aussies reached the target in 17.1 overs, with none of the English bowlers managing to put pressure on the rival batters. When Lauren Bell dismissed Georgia Voll for 9 runs, the host nation tried to take more wickets, but Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield didn’t give chances.

Mooney amassed 64 runs off 49 balls, including 10 boundaries, while Phoebe Litchfield accumulated 48 runs in 35 deliveries. She hit 6 boundaries and 2 sixes. The two added 100 runs for the second wicket.

Ellyse Perry (13 off 12) and Ashleigh Gardner (3 off 2) remained not out. For England, Charlie Dean, Bell and Sophie Ecclestone claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, England batters never got going after losing the toss. They batted slowly, which impacted their overall total.

Nat Sciver-Brunt took 53 balls to score 58 not out at a strike rate of 109.43. Only Freya Kemp looked threatening, managing an unbeaten 44 runs in 28 balls, laced with 4 fours and 1 six.

Kim Garth, Lucy Hamilton, Sophie Molineux and Annabel Sutherland picked up one wicket each.

Australia have won the T20 World Cup seven times and are the most successful team in the history of women’s cricket.
