Rajasthan Royals Record in Qualifier 2: Now only 3 teams are left in the race to win the title of IPL 2024. These include Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. In the eliminator match of the tournament on the previous day (22 May), Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 4 wickets and confirmed their place in Qualifier 2. Now they will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2, which is to be played on 24 May at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Rajasthan Royals' performance was quite good in the first phase of the league stage of the tournament, but their performance in the second phase was quite poor. Despite this, the team managed to qualify for the playoffs. Now Rajasthan Royals will have to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 to make it to the final.
Rajasthan team has played Qualifier 2 twice before. In IPL 2013, Rajasthan Royals entered Qualifier 2 by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator match.
Rajasthan faced Mumbai Indians in the qualifier. In that match, Rajasthan batted first and scored 165/6. In the reply innings, Mumbai Indians achieved this target by losing 6 wickets with 1 ball remaining and dashed Rajasthan Royals' hopes of winning the title.
In IPL 2022 also, the Rajasthan Royals team was successful in qualifying for the playoffs on the basis of their excellent performance. In that season, Rajasthan had to face defeat at the hands of Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1. After this, Rajasthan clashed with Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 2.
The team led by Sanju Samson performed brilliantly and won easily by 7 wickets against RCB and secured a place in the final. However, in the final match, Gujarat Titans won the title by defeating Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets. In this way, the Rajasthan team missed out on winning its second title.
