England pacer Jofra Archer said that bowling in England is like returning to normal conditions after playing on easy wickets and smaller boundaries during the Indian Premier League 2026. Archer commented after taking three wickets in the team’s 125-run win over India in the third T20I at Trent Bridge. The right-arm pacer conceded 29 runs while the fellow team Josh Tongue claimed four wickets for 38 as India were dismissed for 76 runs in 11.4 overs while chasing 202.

When asked whether bowling to Indian batters in English conditions needed a different approach after competing against most of them in the IPL, Archer said the conditions give room for error.

“It becomes normal here,” Archer said after the match. “You can bowl on a good length over here. Whereas over there, the wickets are easy and small boundaries force bowlers to become particular. Here, the margin for error is big,” he added.

Archer mentioned that the total posted by England in the third game was not easy to chase. “Even 200 are not safe in the IPL at times. You don’t feel confident as a bowler even with 200 on the board. Over here, there was a need for a special innings to reach the target.

“I am glad that everyone contributed and got wickets. It was a complete bowling performance by England.”

India are struggling in the United Kingdom. They lost the T20I series to Ireland and are now trailing 0-2 in the five-match series in England.

Archer and Josh Tongue bowled fast, but the former insisted that their discipline was the key to success and not the express pace.

“We both were spot on in Manchester as well, but we didn’t get wickets. We are glad that we picked up wickets in the third game. It was not the pace. It was windy in the middle, and it didn’t feel like the ball was coming fast out of the hand.”

Jofra Archer vs Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in England

Archer is enjoying his on-field duel with his Rajasthan Royals teammate Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The 15-year-old hit six on the pacer’s delivery, but the quick managed to dismiss him. “It is even now. The two games are still left, and it could go either way. May the best man win.”

Archer lauded opening batter Phil Salt, who scored 70 runs off 44 balls. It allowed the home team to post over 200 runs.

“The runs were very important. Phil wants to start hitting from the first ball. I am glad that he didn’t give up as he was on five runs off nine deliveries at one stage. The flow came back after a while. I am glad he was in the middle. Sometimes, you can’t hit from ball one. It was good for him. He spent some time in the middle, and hopefully he will perform in the remaining matches of the series.”

The fourth T20I between England and India is scheduled in Bristol on Thursday, with the fifth and final game to be played in Southampton on Saturday.
