Delhi: Many big changes have been seen in the Indian T20 team recently. With the appointment of the new captain, young opening batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also been given a chance in the team. Young players have nothing to lose

Abhishek Nair believes that when a new player enters international cricket, there is relatively less pressure on him. On the other hand, there is additional pressure on the big bowlers of the world to maintain their reputation. This is the reason why young batsmen show courage to play aggressive shots from the very first ball without any hesitation.

He said that if a new batsman gets out early against a big bowler, he is not criticized much, but if the same batsman hits a six on a big bowler in the beginning, then questions start being raised on the bowler’s performance. This mental edge gives young players the confidence to play openly.

Responsibilities increase with success

According to Abhishek Nair, in the initial stages the player plays with complete freedom because the expectations from him are less, but as he continues to perform well and makes his mark, the pressure on him to maintain better performance also increases. This stage proves to be the toughest test for any player.

Called Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy a ‘distinct identity’

Talking about Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, Abhishek Nair said that he has proved his leadership abilities in both domestic cricket and Indian Premier League (IPL). According to him, Shreyas achieved good results even with teams which were not considered very strong earlier. His biggest specialty has been to take young players along and make the team perform better.

He also said that at one time Shreyas Iyer stopped worrying about selection in the Indian team and concentrated only on his performance and this thinking later became his biggest strength. Due to his consistent leadership ability, he has now been given the command of the Indian T20 team.
