Ab de Villiers team India coach: Former South African batsman AB de Villiers recently said that he is looking forward to starting his new innings as a coach in the future. However, he also confirmed that he is not among the contenders to become the next head coach of Team India. De Villiers has not ruled out playing this role in the future.
It is worth noting that the Board of Control for Cricket in India has invited applications for the head coach of Team India, the last date for which has been fixed as 27 May 2024. The current head coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid, can also re-apply for this post as per his wish. However, he is no longer interested in it.
Former explosive batsman de Villiers, while talking about the possibilities of coaching in the future, said that he would enjoy it and is looking forward to coaching. His experience can help many players.
Talking about the coaching role on News18, de Villiers said, “I think I will enjoy coaching whenever I do it, but there are some things that I will not enjoy. However, I will learn them too with time. Anything is possible with time and I can think about it on my feet. I will get to learn as I go along. However, I feel that there are some things in the coaching job that I will enjoy a lot.”
The former right-handed batsman further said, 'The things I have learned in the last few years and the maturity I have gained at the age of 40. Now when I look back at my career, many things are clear. In such a situation, I think this learning can be very valuable for some young players and even some senior players. I would love to work with some players and as a coach there are some things that do not come to my mind at the moment. However, I think things may change in the future.
