Dinesh Karthik has retired from the Indian Premier League. He played his last game against Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The RCB batter showed his class in IPL 2024 and played several attacking knocks. After playing more than 200 matches and donning jerseys of six franchises, the veteran took the ground for the last time in the Eliminator with a hope of taking RCB go Qualifier 2.

As he often says that there is no fairytale ending in sport, Bengaluru were eliminated by RR. DK’s wife Dipika Pallikal, Virat Kohli, Abhishek Nayar and others paid tribute to the legendary wicket-keeper.

In a video uploaded by RCB, Virat talked about his first impression of Dinesh Karthik.

“I met him for the first time during the Champions Trophy in 2009. He was hyperactive and confused person, who was all over the place. That was my first impression of DK. He is a brilliant cricketer, who has knowledge of the sport and I like talking to him. When I was going through my toughest phase, he spoke to me and give me a different perspective. He has a nice family and beautiful children and I wish him all the best,” Virat Kohli said.

Dipika was emotional and even cried for her husband. “He reinvents himself after every two years. I am proud of him and I feel he should now give more time to us. Abhishek Nayar, who is a family to us now, has played a key role in Dinesh’s career,” she said.

Abhishek, who is currently working with Kolkata Knight Riders, is close to Karthik. He also heaped massive praise on the batter and even revealed about their conversations when Dinesh was going through challenging situations in his personal life and professional career.a
