The 33-year-old Indian player Shivam Dubey is getting criticised for his performances in the T20I series against England. Dube played all five matches in the series and scored 95 runs with an average of 23.75 and a strike rate of 146. The southpaw began the series well with a knock of 42 off 21 balls but didn’t manage to do much in the remaining games. With the ball, the player managed to pick up just two wickets.

Former Indian skipper Kris Srikkanth wasn’t pleased with the player’s fielding as well. Chennai Super Kings star dropped skipper Harry Brook early in the game, and the batter made full use of that life to score 95 not out. The batter was on three runs when Dube grassed what a difficult running catch in the sixth over was.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth said, “Shivam Dube keeps running circles around the ball on the field. How can he ever win the game for India with his fielding? It is a joke that he is an international cricketer and all-rounder.” If he had taken Brook’s catch, that would have given Prince Yadav a wicket in his first over.

The 1983 World Cup winner went on to say, “Dube ruined Prince’s chance to get a wicket in his first over. He not only dropped the catch but also fell to the ground with the ball. Things would have been different had the catch been taken. It is funny that he has been picked as Nitish Reddy’s replacement in the ODI format. What has Dube done to deserve chances? He can only guarantee dropped catches and give 30 runs with his bowling.”

Saba Karim questions Shreyas Iyer’s decision-making

Meanwhile, another former player, Saba Karim, called out Shreyas Iyer’s decision to give Shivam the 19th over in England’s innings. The bowler picked up two wickets but was hit for 22 runs in the remaining four balls. Jos Buttler hit the medium pacer for two sixes and a four before losing his wicket. The very next ball, Jacob Bethell was also dismissed, but Will Jacks smashed a six on the hat-trick ball to end the over on a high.

Karim, speaking on JioStar, said, “Shreyas made one or two tactical errors. The bowling wasn’t good for sure, but it looked like the captain didn’t know which bowler to use. How can Dube bowl the 19th over of the innings? That proved to be very costly. It shows the captain lacked shrewdness and resources weren’t used well.”
