Yastika Bhatia became the first woman to score a Test century at the Lord’s Cricket Ground on the third day of the ongoing one-off Test match between England and India.

Yastika reached three figures from 145 balls in an innings that had 12 fours. This is her highest Test score, and first century in the longest format.

Resuming from overnight, she had an early piece of fortune when the first ball of the day from Lauren Bell clipped off-stump but failed to dislodge the bails. From there, she batted resolutely to reach the milestone.

She joins teammate Kranti Gaud in making the Lord’s honours board. Kranti earned the recognition after her five-wicket haul in England’s first innings.
