Birmingham. In the first ODI match being played at Edgbaston Stadium, England captain Harry Brook has won the toss and decided to bat first. Team India will bowl first. Young fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has got a chance to debut in the Indian team, who is six and a half feet tall and is expected to be of good help in the conditions of England. Shivam Dubey has also been included in the playing eleven, while Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh have been left out of the playing eleven.
England’s record at Edgbaston Stadium has been very dangerous. The English team has won its last seven matches here. The last time England had to face defeat on this ground was at the hands of Team India in 2014, when India defeated England by 9 wickets. Since then the English team has never lost on this ground. This is the 200th ODI match of England wicketkeeper batsman Jos Buttler and he has become the second batsman to play 200 ODIs for England.
Team India has a total of six bowling options. There are three main fast bowlers in the form of Gurnoor Brar, Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, while Shivam Dubey is present as a medium pace fast bowling option. Apart from this, Washington Sundar and Akshar Patel will handle the responsibility of spin. The England team has also fielded three fast bowlers and two spinners, with Will Jacques included as the sixth bowling option.
