BCCI Denied Any Australian Given Coaching Offer : A big and shocking statement has come from the BCCI, which is looking for a new head coach for the Indian team. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has said that no former Australian cricketer has been contacted by the Indian Board for coaching and the news running in the media is wrong.
In fact, it was claimed in many media reports that Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting is on the BCCI's radar for coaching Team India. Apart from this, Justin Langer is also in the race. Justin Langer recently gave a statement, which shows that BCCI had contacted him. He said, “I was talking to KL Rahul and he told me that you know if you feel that there is pressure and politics in an IPL team, then multiply it by a thousand, there is the same pressure and politics in becoming the coach of Team India. This was a good advice for me. I think this would have been a great job but it cannot happen right now.”
At the same time, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has completely denied this. He has said that no former Australian player has been contacted for coaching the Indian team. According to the Times of India report, Jay Shah said, neither I nor the BCCI have made any offer to any former Australian cricketer for coaching the Indian team. The news running in some media is completely wrong. We will appoint a coach for our national team under a process. The person who has a deep understanding of Indian cricket and who also understands our domestic cricket will be given priority.
