India’s tour of England turned out to be a nightmare for the BCCI as the Men in Blue faced multiple disappointments on their trip to the UK. The first leg of the tour was a 3–0 loss against Ireland in the best-of-five T20I matches. India then proceeded to suffer a 4–0 defeat against England in the next best-of-five T20I series. Their luck did not improve in the ODI leg either, as England won the best-of-three series 2-1. All this is a matter of great concern for the BCCI.

Gautam Gambhir faces mounting criticism after India lost the third ODI against England at Lord’s, with ex-cricketer Sadagoppan Ramesh criticizing the decision to omit Kuldeep Yadav from the playing XI, despite Jasprit Bumrah being unfit.

‘What logic is there?’ Ramesh questions Kuldeep Yadav’s omission

Ramesh commented on the situation at Lord’s, noting that the conditions were ideal for spin, with England fielding three spinners in a dry pitch, while India did not include one of its best white-ball bowlers.

“Even England has three slow bowlers, and the wicket is dry. So, without Bumrah, if Kuldeep Yadav does not find a place in the team, what logic is there? There is no doubt that this team management makes terrible mistakes both in general and in the XI composition,” Ramesh said in a video uploaded to Instagram.

Kuldeep, who is among the best spinners in India, has 194 wickets in 121 ODIs with an average of 27.04. However, he did not manage to play a single ODI match against England.

Ramesh praises Rohit Sharma

While criticizing the selection policy of the team, Ramesh saves praise for Rohit Sharma, who not only responded to criticism but also scored a century in the deciding match of the series.

“If not for Sharma’s brilliant century and the good innings by Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, India would have failed to chase down 388,” the opener-turned-coach said.

“Even when Rohit was under the greatest pressure, he scored a wonderful century. Nevertheless, we always had the feeling that India would fail to reach the required number of runs because of the large deficit, despite the good innings of Gill and Kohli. However, India showed a great fight in the second innings as the wicket was more up and down,” Ramesh added.

Although Rohit fought his way to a century, India failed to match the score at Lord’s, ending up 27 runs short.
