Abhishek Sharma failed with the bat but contributed with the ball in Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2024. He dismissed Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer and gave just 24 runs from four overs.
Former India player Harbhajan Singh wants to see Abhishek Sharma in Team India’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The deadline to make any changes is May 25 and the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has already named the 15-member team along with four reserves.
“Abhishek Sharma should have gone to the West Indies and the USA. He deserves to play for India. India have four spinners in the team and there is still a day left to make changes. The team needs players like him, who can contribute with the bat and ball,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.
Sharma has accumulated more than 400 runs at a strike-rate of over 200 in the 17th season.
There is a possibility of him getting a chance in the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.
