Lucknow: Rajasthan Royals (RR) lost by 36 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the second qualifier match played at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. With the win in this match, Hyderabad has made its place in the final and now they will be seen facing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the summit clash on 26 May. In this match, RR's young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal was batting well but suddenly he played a bad shot and got out. He had to face criticism due to poor shot selection.

Jaiswal was batting well in the second qualifier match against Hyderabad and as long as he was at the crease, Rajasthan remained in the match. However, he played a bad shot off Shahbaz Ahmed and was caught out. As soon as he was out, other RR batsmen could not perform well and as a result, they had to be out of IPL 2024. During a conversation on Star Sports after the match ended, former great Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar was seen criticizing Jaiswal and blamed him for this defeat.

He said, “I think Yashasvi played a careless shot and that is why Rajasthan had to face defeat. He was a set batsman and he also took a drink during the drinks break. Jaiswal should have waited a bit after that break to play a big shot. No bowler in the Hyderabad team was such a big turner and due to his dismissal, SRH got a chance to come back in the match.”

Gavaskar further said, “I know Jaiswal was struggling with hamstring during the eliminator against Kolkata but this cannot be an excuse. His shot selection was not right and that is why his team is out today.”

The left-handed batsman faced 21 balls in this match and scored 42 runs with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes. Jaiswal threw his wicket away because he chose a bad shot on Ahmed's ball.

With the win against Rajasthan, Hyderabad has made its place in the final and with this, now they will be seen playing against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 26. Kolkata had confirmed its ticket to the final by defeating Sunrisers in the first qualifier.
