India's long tour of the United Kingdom is finally over, and honestly, it couldn't have ended soon enough. What was supposed to be a statement-making trip turned into a reality check. The T20 world champions arrived with big ambitions but left with bruised egos. They lost 0-2 to Ireland in the T20Is, yes, Ireland, and then got swept 0-4 by England in the T20 series, which also cost India its world No.1 ranking.

The ODI series offered a glimmer of hope with Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma back in the mix. India won the first ODI, but England bounced back to take the next two, sealing a 2-1 series win.
Now, with the tour done, Rohit's future is the hot topic, but the team can't afford to dwell on it for too long. So, what's next? India's next match is just around the corner.

They'll face Zimbabwe in a three-match T20I series starting July 23 in Harare, with all games wrapped up by July 27. It's a quick turnaround and a chance to reset. The rest of 2026 is packed. India will travel to Sri Lanka and New Zealand for Tests; both carry massive World Test Championship weight after a tough 2025 in red-ball cricket.

There are also two home series lined up before the year ends.
With the 2027 ODI World Cup in sight, every game counts, and the team needs to find consistency fast.
