Yashasvi Jaiswal was slammed for his ordinary shot against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 of the Indian Premier League 3024. He was looking good with the bat but played a reckless shot after a strategic break, resulting in his downfall. He scored 42 runs off 21 balls, with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes.
His departure allowed Hyderabad to comeback into the game and the Pat Cummins-led franchise won the game by 36 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed took the scalp of the dangerous batter and SRH lost the way. Ahmed also got rid of Riyan Parag and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Cummins, the SRH captain, also introduced Abhishek Sharma. He added two wickets to his bowling figures and played a key role in his team’s qualification for the final.
RR captain Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer were his two victims. Meanwhile, former India player Sunil Gavaskar blamed Yashasvi for the Royals’elimination.
“I feel his reckless shot resulted in Rajasthan Royals’defeat. He was set and even had drinks during the break. Jaiswal should have taken sometime before playing another big shot in the game. Hyderabad didn’t had any big turners in the side and Yashasvi’s departure allowed their bowlers to crawl back.
“I know he was struggling with his hamstring in Qualifier 1 against Kolkata Knight Riders but that is no excuse. There is no problem with his temperament but his shot selection is not right,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Kolkata Knight Riders in the final on May 26.
