Former India captain Virat Kohli and his wife, Anushka Sharma, recently visited Premanand Ji Maharaj in Vrindavan to seek his blessing. The two were then spotted at the Delhi Airport as they left for London on July 22.

The couple keep visiting the spiritual leader at his ashram, including after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the Indian Premier League 2026 title.

Kohli recently played in a three-match ODI series against England.

The veteran batter amassed 144 runs in three matches at an average of 48:00 and a strike rate of 109.09.

He struck two fifties, with a top score of 74. However, England won the series 2-1. India secured a win in the first match but lost the remaining two in Cardiff and Lord’s. In the final contest of the series, the host nation posted 387 for 3 in 50 overs. The visitors were restricted to 360 and fell short by 27 runs on July 19.

1983 World Cup winner hails Virat Kohli

Former India player Madan Lal, who was a part of the 1983 World Cup-winning squad, heaped massive praise on Virat Kohli, calling him one of the smartest cricketers.

He highlighted Kohli’s ability to read the game and play according to the team’s needs.

“He is one of the smartest cricketers I have ever seen. His reading of the game and understanding of the situation are superb. He reacts and executes according to the situation. If the team loses early wickets, he makes sure to post a score where they can either challenge the rival or even win the match,” he said.

“Earlier, people used to criticize him for his strike rate.

It was never about scoring quick runs. He goes according to the situation and his understanding of the game. He bats according to the requirements of the team,” he added.

The legendary batter will next be seen in action in a three-match home ODI series against the West Indies in September. He has already retired from T20Is and Test cricket after the 2024 T20 World Cup and before the Test series against England, respectively. He is only active in the fifty-over format and is aiming to represent the Indian National Cricket Team in the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Although he has been consistent in one-day internationals, the selectors and the team management have refused to confirm his place in the global tournament.

Virat Kohli has amassed 28,359 runs in 562 international matches across formats at an average of 52.71, with the help of 85 hundreds and 148 fifties.
