Richa Ghosh smashed two sixes in a brief cameo (15* off 5 balls) to help Manchester Super Giants kick of its Hundred campaign with a seven-wicket win over London Spiritin a low-scoring contest at Lord’s on Thursday night.

The Super Giants, bowling first, cleaned up Spirit for a paltry 80 in the first innings powered by a four-wicket haul by Ryana Mcdonald-Gay (4/17).

Faced with an easy target that did not require unecessary risks, Smriti Mandhana along with her opening partner Meg Lanning began the chase in the second innings on a cautious note.

Smriti got off to a start and collected three boundaries but failed to see the chase until the end as she was trapped LBW by Marizanne Kapp on 17 off 14 balls.

Grace Scrivens, coming in at three, was dismissed for a golden duck and Lanning fell soon after for 21 off 24 balls but by then, the Supergiants needed just 24 runs for the win.

Paige Scholfield (22 off 15 balls) and Richa completed the formalities without much difficulty to help the Supergiants register a commanding victory.

Both Smriti and Richa will next be seen in action on Sunday, July 26, when the Super Giants will take on Birmingham Phoenix.

Jemimah Rodrigues (Southern Brave) and Deepti Sharma (Sunrisers Leeds) are the other Indians taking part in the current edition of the Hundred.

Jemimah and Deepti will face each other on Saturday, July 25 when Brave take on Leeds.
