Pakistan have announced their team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, who recently came out of retirement, will be playing for the Men in Green in the global tournament.
Amir had announced his retirement a few years ago after his troubled relationship with the then team management. However, the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board convinced him and the left-arm seamer agreed to play in the World Cup.
Imad was miffed after being ignored by the national selectors and he bid adieu despite being one of the best performers in different T20 leagues across the globe. The new leadership urged him to reconsider his decision and the all-rounder accepted their proposal.
Former India player Sunil Gavaskar was surprised when he heard about Amir’s return as the veteran was not aware of the seamer’s decision to have another go at the World Cup title.
“Is he still playing for Pakistan? Has he come come out of retirement? I thought he was done and dusted after he announced his retirement from the game,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
Jatin Sapru informed him about Amir’s comeback story.
