Welsh Fire captain Sophie Devine has been ruled out of the remainder of the Hundred due to a calf injury.
“Gutted to be ruled out of the comp, but will be the best hydration manager ever for Welsh Fire,” Devine shared on her Instagram.
Ireland all-rounder Orla Prendergast has been roped in as her replacement while Georgia Wareham has been handed the captain’s armband for the rest of the season.
Welsh Fire beat Southern Brave in its first game without Devine, sealing a four-wicket win in a game that went down to the last ball.
In four innings this season, Devine scored 130 runs at an average of 43.33 and a strike rate of 164.55, with a highest score of 52. She also took three wickets across the two games where she decided to pitch in with the ball.
