Harare : Teenage Indian batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi admitted that there have been many ups and downs in his career in the last four months but his confidence remains intact ahead of the T20 International series against Zimbabwe starting on Thursday .

Based on his impressive performances in the IPL, 15- year-old Suryavanshi was included in India’s T20I tour of Ireland and England.

Suryavanshi played three ODIs , but failed to score a big score in those matches. He was subsequently dropped from the fifth and final T20I when Sanju Samson returned to the team. India lost the series 0-4 .

The decision to omit him from the final match was criticized by several former cricketers, who questioned whether it was right to drop the teenage batsman after just three innings. Suryavanshi told bcci.tv , ” Yes , there have been many ups and downs in the last four months. This is part of cricket and will continue to happen , but I have to trust my process and give my 100 percent for the team. “

Suryavanshi’s familiarity with the conditions in Harare is considered a strong possibility for him to be included in the playing XI for the first T20I on Thursday. Suryavanshi was visibly emotional after being dropped from the fifth and final T20I against England . He admitted that it’s not easy to overcome such disappointments at a young age , but he received full support from those around him and the coaching staff, helping him regain his focus on the game.

” It’s natural that the coaches are providing me with whatever help and guidance I need , and I’m also getting as much practice as I need , ” he said .

Suryavanshi was a key member of India’s Under- 19 World Cup-winning team in February this year. He played a crucial role in India’s title win, scoring an explosive 175 off just 80 balls against England in the final at this very ground. ” This ground is very memorable for me, ” he said .
