Shaheen Afridi was offered the vice-captaincy of the Pakistan team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 but he refused to accept the offer. According to ESPNcricinfo, the national selection committee wanted to name Shaheen as Babar Azam’s deputy for the global tournament but the pacer said no to it. Pakistan didn’t have a vice-captain for the upcoming ICC tournament.

Shaheen was sacked as T20I captain after just one series against New Zealand and was replaced by Babar Azam. Although he has moved on from the painful experience, the star bowler doesn’t want to be a part of another mess.

The latest episode shows that Afridi is still miffed with the apex body of Pakistan cricket. Shaheen had also slammed PCB for posting his fake statements welcoming Babar.

He wanted to expose PCB, but the new chairman of the cricket board Mohsin Naqvi managed to convince him.

Shaheen felt betrayed by the manner of his removal. The selection committee also discussed about the possibility of giving the responsibility to Shadad Khan and Mohammad Rizwan, but all the members were not convinced.
