Delhi: Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel believes that star all-rounder Hardik Pandya can play an important role for Team India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. His performance for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was disappointing. Under his captaincy, Mumbai Indians won only 4 matches and finished last in the points table.

At the launch of the Legends Intercontinental T20 League, Parthiv said that the all-rounder is a different player when he wears the Indian team jersey. Parthiv feels that Hardik's ability to bowl fast and his skill to face spinners will prove to be good for him in India's upcoming T20 World Cup campaign.
39-year-old Parthiv Patel said, “Obviously, he will be a completely different player after coming in the Indian team jersey. There is no doubt that his IPL season was not good, but he is very important for the Indian team. You know that along with fast bowling, he is an all-rounder option and his ability to play spin on other grounds in the West Indies, which are not so big, so Hardik Pandya can play an important role in India's T20 World Cup campaign.”

Hardik's figures in IPL 2024 were not very good. The MI captain scored just 216 runs in 14 matches at an average of 18 and a strike-rate of 143.05. Hardik took 11 wickets with the ball, but his economy-rate was 10.75 and average was 35.18. Talking about playing in the West Indies, Hardik has played 6 T20 matches so far and has scored 99 runs and taken 6 wickets at an average of 22.17.
