Rishabh Pant is set to be India's first-choice wicketkeeper-batter for the two-Test series against Sri Lanka, starting August 15 in Galle. And he has a golden chance to etch his name in the record books.

The dynamic left-hander, who made his Test debut in 2018, has smashed 97 sixes in 50 matches so far. He now needs just three more maximums to become the first Indian ever to reach 100 sixes in Test cricket. Currently, only three players Ben Stokes (138), Brendon McCullum (107), and Adam Gilchrist (exactly 100) have achieved this feat.

Pant already holds the Indian record for most Test sixes and is joint-sixth on the all-time list. He could climb as high as second by the end of this series.

In the World Test Championship, Pant has 77 sixes from 40 matches, just 12 behind Stokes' competition record of 88. Additionally, he needs 220 runs to become the first wicketkeeper-batter to score 3,000 WTC runs. With both personal milestones and team success at stake, Pant will be one of the most watched players in the upcoming clash.
