  • IND 186/5

The players are back after Tea. Slow turn on the wicket today. Jadeja has looked really good so far. A key player for India and he’s getting ample amount of batting time.

  • IND 180/5 at Tea

Tea has been taken in Colombo. A couple of quick wickets for India once Padikkal decided to walk off after reaching his century. Pant and Jurel both got out quickly. Manav Suthar and Ravindra Jadeja currently occupy the crease.

    India trails by 183 runs.

  • Big news coming for India

Sai Sudharsan ruled out of Sri Lanka Test series after failing to recover from injury

Sai Sudharsan is ruled out of the Sri Lanka Test series due to injury, missing vital matches for India.

  • Dhruv Jurel gone as well

Pant’s backup, Dhruv Jurel also has to walk back to the pavillion as he falls after scoring 1 off 9 balls. A good catch by the short leg fielder there as Jurel tried to work Ramesh Mendis on the leg side.

Manav Suthar walks in at five.

  • Pant departs cheaply

Rishabh Pant tries to attack from the word go but isn’t able to connect. He came down the track, trying to hit over mid off but is caught by the fielder. Falls after scoring just 2.

  • Hundred for Padikkal!!

A century of class! Devdutt Padikkal gets to a fantastic hundred with a pull shot through midwicket. Survived a dropped caught-and-bowled chance just the ball before.

He walks off the field after reaching three figures and Rishabh Pant joins Jadeja in the middle.

  • IND 155/2

Isitha manages to get Padikkal’s outside edge as he tries to cut a wide one, which did not carry and speeds past a diving first slip for four. Into the nineties now.

Padikkal continues to pile on the runs despite the pitch starting to play a few tricks. The Karnataka batter moves to 87 and has found a solid partner in Jadeja.

  • IND 104/2

  • IND 67/1 – Rain stops play

Despite losing Jaiswal early in the innings, India has got a good start with Padikkal and Rahul getting good starts. However, it has started to rain suddenly, and the players are going off the field. Could be a passing shower.

  • IND 50/1

Devdutt Padikkal has got a good start. He has left a few angled in deliveries well and pounced on anything that’s too wide. Rahul, meanwhile, is focused on his defence – a crucial skill needed in the upcoming two Tests.

  • Rahul, Padikkal at the crease

K.L. Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal will look to make the most of this opportunity and dig in on a pitch that’s proved to be pretty flat thus far. Jaiswal will be gutted with himself for not having cashed in on this surface.

  • Early setback
