Delhi: Australia's star batsman Travis Head has made it clear that at present he is not eyeing the captaincy of the team. Head, who is one of Australia's important players in all three formats, believes that it is not necessary to be a captain to make an impact on the team. The 32-year-old Head said that he is happy with his role as a senior player in the team and his entire focus is on performing well on the field.

Contribution to the team is more important than captaincy

Head has got the responsibility of captaining Australia on different occasions. He has also captained the T20I team. Despite this, he does not see himself in the race to become a regular captain. Head said that even without captaincy, he can contribute to the team through his words and experience.

According to him, it is not necessary to have the responsibility of captaincy to make an impact in the team. He said, 'I feel that I can bring something to the team, but it is not necessary to be the captain for this.'

Full confidence in Cummins and Smith

The head also made his stand clear regarding the current leadership. He said that Pat Cummins and Steve Smith are performing their responsibilities well and he is completely comfortable with their work. Head said that he would be happy if he could prove useful to the team in any way. Instead of running after the captaincy tag, he wants to help the team with his performance.

Head has been one of Australia's most reliable batting players in recent years. Apart from aggressive batting, he can also bowl off spin if needed.
