Delhi: The first match of the two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Galle from August 15. Before the match, the discussion regarding the playing-11 of Team India has intensified. The biggest debate is regarding the number-6 position, where there is a contest between Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel. Former Indian cricketer Murali Karthik has given his opinion on this matter.

Murali believes Jurrell should get a chance

Sarfaraz has returned to the Indian Test team. He has been included in the team in place of injured Sai Sudarshan. After his return, many fans and cricket experts want him to get a chance to play in the first Test. Sarfaraz is known for batting well against spin bowling and his role can be important in Sri Lankan conditions.

However, former Indian spinner Karthik has talked about including Dhruv Jurel in the playing-11. According to Karthik, Sarfaraz has not done anything wrong, but it is also important to maintain continuity with the players already present in the team.

Karthik said, “Sarfaraz has not done anything wrong. He has come into the team as a replacement player. Messaging is important and players should feel secure about their place. Dhruv Jurel is also an important wicketkeeper. For me, he should be in the playing-11 before Sarfaraz Khan.”

Difficult decision in front of team management

It will not be easy for Gautam Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill to choose the playing-11. On one hand, Sarfaraz's batting can strengthen the team, while maintaining continuity with Jurel can be beneficial.

Murali believes that players should be confident about their role and place in the team. Therefore, according to him, Jurel should get a chance before Sarfaraz in the first test. Now it remains to be seen who Team India selects for number-6 in Galle on 15th August.
