Cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the start of the Test series between India and Sri Lanka. The first Test match in Galle is slated to begin on 15th August 2026, with the second match to be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club starting 23rd August 2026. It is a huge series for both sides with key WTC points up for grabs.

The two sides are playing a Test series after four years, with the previous coming in 2022, which India hosted with Rohit Sharma as the captain. This series is also the first time since 2017 that the Indian side is touring Sri Lanka for a Test series. Virat Kohli’s side beat the hosts 3-0.

Muttiah Muralitharan – The world’s highest Test wicket-taker claimed 8/87 in the first innings of the 2001 Test match played at the SSC. He began with the wickets of openers SS Das and Sadagoppan Ramesh. He then dismissed Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid, and the fifer came when he got the wicket of Sameer Dighe before claiming three more scalps.

Harbhajan Singh – India’s best bowling figures vs Sri Lanka in Test cricket were achieved by Harbhajan Singh in 2005. The right-arm off-spinner claimed 7/62 during the Ahmedabad Test match. His wickets included massive names like Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Marvan Atapattu, T Samaraweera, and Tillakaratne Dilshan.
