Ravindra Jadeja reached another major milestone in his Test career on Day 3 of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle, becoming only the fifth Indian bowler to take 350 wickets in the longest format. Jadeja reached the landmark by dismissing Sri Lanka's Keshara Nuwantha as India continued to dominate the hosts after posting 462 in their first innings.

Jadeja entered the first Test against Sri Lanka needing two wickets to reach 350 Test wickets. He completed the milestone on Day 3 after dismissing Nuwantha.

The all-rounder now joins an elite group of Indian bowlers to have reached 350 Test wickets.

Jadeja's achievement also adds another significant chapter to his career as India's leading left-arm spinner in Test cricket.

The milestone is even more significant because of Jadeja's contribution with the bat.

He entered the Sri Lanka series with more than 4,000 Test runs alongside 348 wickets. By reaching 350 wickets, Jadeja has become only the fourth player in Test history to combine 4,000 runs with 350 wickets.

Only Kapil Dev, Ian Botham and Daniel Vettori had previously achieved the feat.

Jadeja's numbers underline his value to India across his Test career, with his ability to contribute heavily with both bat and ball making him one of the most successful all-rounders of his generation.

The landmark came as India continued to hold the advantage in Galle.

India were bowled out for 462 early on Day 3 after Devdutt Padikkal's career-best 167 formed the backbone of their first innings.

Sri Lanka struggled in their reply, reaching 99/5 by lunch on Day 3 before recovering later in the innings. Jadeja was among India's wicket-takers as the visitors looked to build a substantial first-innings lead.

The pitch has increasingly offered assistance to the spinners, making Jadeja's role crucial as India attempt to take control of the opening Test.
