Delhi: In the Test being held against India in Galle, Sri Lanka's Sonal Dinusha batted brilliantly in difficult times and scored the first century of her Test career. In the third session of the third day, Dinusha played an inning of 100 runs in 168 balls. However, after completing the century, he could not stay at the crease for long and became the victim of Ravindra Jadeja on the very next ball.

This is the fourth Test for 25-year-old left-handed batsman Dinusha for Sri Lanka. He hit 4 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. His innings brought Sri Lanka out of great trouble at a time when the team had lost 5 wickets for 90 runs.

Sonal Dinusha scored the first century in her test career

Dinusha carried on with her innings with great patience. He completed his first Test century in 167 balls. After completing his century, Ravindra Jadeja gave him out LBW on the very next ball. That means Dinusha could not add even a single run after his century. It was definitely a bit disappointing for him, but his inning of 100 runs gave a big relief to Sri Lanka.

Dinusha joins special club against India

With this century of Dinusha, he has made a place in the special list of some big names of Sri Lanka. He has become only the fourth Sri Lankan batsman to score a century while batting at number 6 in the Test against India.

Earlier, Arjuna Ranatunga had scored 111 runs in Colombo in August 1997. After this, Tillakaratne Dilshan played an unbeaten inning of 125 runs in July 2008. Whereas Dinesh Chandimal had scored unbeaten 162 runs in August 2015.

Overall, Dinusha has become the seventh Sri Lankan batsman to score a Test century while batting at number-6 or below against India.

Changed the course of the match with Dickwella

Dinusha not only scored a century, but also managed Sri Lanka's innings along with Niroshan Dickwella. Both of them made a brilliant partnership of 146 runs in 213 balls for the sixth wicket.

Dickwella, who came to bat at number-7, also played a brilliant inning of 80 runs in 115 balls. He missed scoring the first century of his Test career, but his innings was very important for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan team was limited to 284 runs

Thanks to the partnership of Dinusha and Dickwella, Sri Lanka scored 284 runs in its first innings. After Dinusha's dismissal, Sri Lanka's innings could not last long and the entire team was all out for 284 runs and India got a lead of 178 runs.

Manav Suthar, who was debuting for India, was the most successful bowler. He took 4 wickets for 76 runs. Ravindra Jadeja also bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets. Apart from this, Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav got 1 success each.
