The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will be played in the West Indies and the United States of America. India are one of the favourites for the title, considering the presence of the match-winning players.
In the last edition of the tournament in 2022, India were knocked out by England in the semi-final.
Former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull pointed out one alarming weakness in Team India’s squad for the upcoming World Cup. “India have been missing a player in their top five-six, who can bowl a few overs in T20 cricket,” he said on Cricbuzz.
He also made a big statement on India’s team after the showpiece event. “Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad will come into the picture. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill will remain in the mix. You will have options. SKY is going to be there along with Shivam Dube. You will have guys in the top order who can bowl. India will bat deeper with two-three all-rounders. This will allow the management to play with four genuine bowlers,” he said.
Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan have been named as reserves for the T20 World Cup.
