The second and final Test between India and Sri Lanka will begin on August 23 at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo. With India leading the series 1-0 after a 165-run victory in Galle, all eyes will be on Ravindra Jadeja, who is on the verge of achieving a unique milestone.

Jadeja picked up four wickets in the opening Test and could add another record to his impressive international career in Colombo.

Ravindra Jadeja set to create history

Ravindra Jadeja will create history as soon as he takes the field in the second Test. The all-rounder is set to become the first Indian cricketer to feature in 50 matches in the World Test Championship.

Jadeja has so far played 49 WTC matches for India. Former India captain Virat Kohli, who retired from Test cricket last year, is second on the list of Indian players with the most WTC appearances.

Mohammed Siraj occupies third place among Indians. The fast bowler, who is part of the ongoing Sri Lanka series, will make his 47th WTC appearance if selected for the Colombo Test.

At the global level, England’s Joe Root leads the appearance charts with 78 WTC matches. Former England captain Ben Stokes is second with 64 appearances, although he has since retired from Test cricket.

Jadeja’s previous record in Colombo

India have played nine Tests at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, winning three, losing two and drawing five.

Jadeja has fond memories of the venue. When India last played Sri Lanka at this ground, they registered an innings-and-53-run victory. Jadeja was one of the standout performers, scoring an unbeaten 70 and taking seven wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the second innings.

India will enter the upcoming Test looking to complete a series sweep, while Sri Lanka will aim to level the contest on home soil.

The second Test begins on Sunday, August 23. The toss is scheduled for 9:30 AM IST, with play set to start at 10:00 AM IST.

The match will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network, while viewers can stream it live through the SonyLIV app and website.
