Left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc’s 10-wicket haul in the second Test match against Bangladesh saw his side win the game by an innings and 51 runs. The visitors were bowled out for 64 in the first innings, and the hosts took a 146-run lead after posting 210. In the second innings, the visitors were bowled out for just 95, with the game finishing in under two days.

This didn’t sit well with former coach Justin Langer, who was doing commentary duties for SEN Radio. The 55-year-old said, “Two-day Test matches aren’t acceptable. Not good for the game on many counts. It was disappointing last year, for the crowds, as well as young fans who watch their heroes on TV or hear the radio or come to the ground.”

Lucknow Super Giants coach also wasn’t too pleased with Bangladesh’s batting and said: “A lot of it (dismissals) is down to technique. Take this game for example. All the dismissals happened because the batters didn’t take their front foot to go past the front line.”

Najmul Hossain Shanto’s side had come to the game on the back of the win in the Darwin Test by nine wickets. Cameron Green was the only batter who was able to score fifty in the game. Shoriful Islam was the best bowler for his team with figures of 7 for 48 from 15 overs.

Pat Cummins happy after massive win

Skipper Pat Cummins was overjoyed with the win after the shock suffered last week. Speaking after the game, Cummins said, “A lot of things went right these couple of days, while a lot of things went wrong last week. We needed to bounce back, and it was a great couple of days from the lads.”

He also added, “Everyone was really sharp. If you get a really good first hour or two, it can set up the rest of the match. I don’t think we can expect to get six for 20 in every match.”

Starc, who was named Player of the Match and the Player of the Series, said, “We knew we weren’t at our best, or what we expect of ourselves in Darwin. Bangladesh played really well. But yeah, what we expect from ourselves this week is what we got, particularly with the ball on a wicket that aided us.”
