Kishan had moved up to the stumps for Sarkar and initially failed to collect the ball cleanly.

Thapa had lost his balance while attempting the shot, leaving him with little time to recover. The third umpire checked the replay before confirming the dismissal.

Kishan's decision to stand close to the stumps ultimately paid off, with his speed of reaction turning what initially looked like a difficult opportunity into a straightforward wicket.

North East Zone Face Pressure From East Zone Attack

The dismissal came as North East Zone attempted to build a response to East Zone's imposing first-innings total.

Mohammed Shami and Mukesh Kumar opened the bowling for East Zone and maintained pressure with disciplined lines and lengths. The overcast conditions in Bengaluru also offered movement, making life difficult for the North East Zone top order.

Joseph Lalthankhuma struggled to settle and was beaten outside the off stump on several occasions before Mukesh eventually found the edge.

Lalthankhuma chased a wide delivery without getting his feet into position and edged the ball to second slip, giving Mukesh his wicket.

Thapa then joined Arpit Bhatewara at the crease and appeared more comfortable before Sarkar's delivery created the opportunity for Kishan to complete the stumping.

Kishan later continued to stand up to the stumps for Sarkar, while Bhatewara and Kishan Lyngdoh negotiated the remaining spells to take North East Zone to 68/2 at tea.

East Zone Post 467 After Strong Recovery

East Zone had earlier built a commanding first-innings total of 467 after adding 112 runs to their overnight score.

Their innings had begun poorly, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhimanyu Easwaran dismissed early to leave the side at 25/2. Kumar Kushagra and Sudip Kumar Gharami then steadied the innings with a 92-run partnership.

Kushagra made 55 before Akash Choudhary struck twice in quick succession. Pheiroijam Jotin Singh then dismissed Ishan Kishan, leaving East Zone at 138/5 at lunch.

Gharami, however, continued to anchor the innings and converted his half-century into an impressive century. He later combined with Shahbaz Ahmed for a huge 150-run partnership.

The pair initially played cautiously against the pace attack before taking greater control against the spinners. Gharami eventually made 146 off 185 balls, while Shahbaz produced an aggressive 164 to further strengthen East Zone's position.

The lower order then added valuable runs as East Zone crossed 450 before being bowled out for 467.

North East Zone were left with a substantial task in their first innings, with East Zone's experienced bowling attack and Kishan's sharp work behind the stumps keeping the pressure firmly on the batting side.
