Delhi: On the first day of the second Test being played between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo, the argument between young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lankan fast bowler Asitha Fernando created controversy. On this incident, former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer termed Jaiswal's behavior wrong and advised him to control his attitude.

Controversy broke out after hitting three consecutive fours

Jaiswal made a great start by hitting three consecutive fours in one over of Fernando.

However, during the same over, Fernando dismissed him on the score of 45 runs. After getting the wicket, the Sri Lankan bowler celebrated in an aggressive manner. At the same time, Yashasvi first decided to go towards the pavilion, but after some time he turned back towards the bowler. During this, there was a heated argument between the two players and the matter escalated so much that there was even physical contact between the two. Later other players separated the two.

ICC imposed fine on both

After the incident, the International Cricket Council (ICC) took action against both the players.

Jaiswal and Fernando were fined 25 percent of the match fee and one demerit point was added to both their accounts. Both of them accepted their mistake and accepted the punishment.

Wasim Jaffer gave strict warning

Wasim Jaffer said that it is not right for a player to react like this even in a situation of provocation. He admitted that Jaiswal may be under pressure to play big innings in Test cricket, but this cannot justify his behaviour.

Jaffer also said that Jaiswal has to understand that a large number of young cricketers consider him their role model, hence his conduct on the field is as important as his performance.
