Dealing with an ankle ligament injury
New Delhi. India's two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra on Saturday announced that he has injured his ankle ligament during practice, due to which he will miss the upcoming Asian Games. Chopra said in a social media post that he suffered the injury shortly after making his season-best throw in the Lausanne Diamond League.
Chopra said, after a lot of hard work, I felt like I was finally finding the good rhythm I was looking for and I gave my best performance of the season in Lausanne.
“Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, I injured my ankle ligament during practice,” he said. After consulting with my doctor and the team, we have decided that I will not be able to play any further this season. This is disappointing, especially because I felt like I was close to finding my rhythm. But as they say, ups and downs are part of life.
Chopra said, now my focus is on getting fully fit and coming back stronger than before. Chopra's withdrawal from this season also means that he will not be able to play in the Diamond League finals, for which he had qualified.
