Delhi: In the Group-B match of Women's Asia Cup 2026, Sri Lanka women's team has registered a one-sided victory over UAE (SLW vs UAEW). In this match played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, Sri Lanka defeated UAE by 9 wickets on the basis of excellent bowling and aggressive batting.
The Sri Lankan team achieved the small target of 80 runs in just 7.5 overs. In this way, the Sri Lankan team has started its campaign in the Women's Asia Cup with a win. This is Sri Lanka's biggest win in terms of balls in T20I.
After losing the toss and coming to bat first, UAE had a very bad start. Tirtha Satish was out in the very first over without opening the account. After this, none of the UAE batsmen could stand against the sharp bowling of the Sri Lankan bowlers.
Captain Isha Ojha (18 runs) and Samaira Dharanidharka (17 runs) showed some fight, but could not take the team to a big score. The entire UAE team was all out for just 79 runs in 19.5 overs.
For Sri Lanka, Mithali Ayodhya and Chetna Vimukthi bowled lethally and took 3 wickets each. Whereas Sugandika Kumari got 2 successes.
The Sri Lankan team, which set out to chase the easy target of 80 runs, adopted an aggressive stance from the very beginning. Opener Imesha Dulani and captain Chamari Atapattu put the match out of UAE's reach by making a quick partnership of 57 runs in just 5.5 overs for the first wicket. Imisha was run out after scoring 25 runs in 18 balls.
After this, captain Chamari Atapattu continued batting aggressively. He played a brilliant inning of 48 unbeaten runs with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes in just 25 balls. Sanjana Kavindi scored 5 unbeaten runs. With 73 balls remaining, Sri Lanka scored 80 runs losing 1 wicket and won the match by 9 wickets.
