In the final of IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets on the basis of the brilliant performance of the bowlers. With this, they won the final for the third time after 10 years. Earlier they had won the title in 2012 and 2014. In this match, Hyderabad played Abdul Samad instead of Travis Head as an impact player. In the final match being played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bat first. Kolkata won the 2012 final on this ground.

Heinrich Klaasen contributed 16 runs with the help of a four in 17 balls and Nitish Reddy contributed 13 runs with the help of a four in 10 balls. Andre Russell took the maximum of 3 wickets from Kolkata's side. Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana took 2-2 wickets each. Varun Chakraborty, Sunil Narayan and Vaibhav Arora were successful in taking one wicket each.

Chasing the target, Kolkata won the match by scoring 114 runs in 10.3 overs. Venkatesh Iyer scored the most runs for the team. He scored a half-century of 52* runs with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes in 26 balls. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 32 runs with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes in 32 balls. Venkatesh added 91 (45) runs for the second wicket with Gurbaz. Pat Cummins and Shahbaz Ahmed took one wicket each from Hyderabad.
