Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets in the final of the Indian Premier League 2024. It was one of the most one-sided finals in the history of the tournament. Gautam Gambhir and Shreyas Iyer are getting the credit for the franchise’s success but Varun Chakravarthy refused to follow the norm.
He heaped massive praise on assistant coach Abhishek Nayar for contributing in the third title of the Knight Riders. According to the champion spinner, Nayar is the main reason behind Kolkata going all the way in the 17th season.
“I want to congratulate Abhishek Nayar. He is the main man behind our third title win. Abhishek has worked hard throughout the season. His works behind the scenes and doesn’t get enough credit but it is important that we talk about unsung heroes,” he said after the title win.
Venkatesh Iyer, who scored a fifty in the title shot match, agreed with Varun.
“Abhishek Nayar was helpful. He inputs came handy during the matches,” he said.
