Gautam Gambhir has earlier successful stints with Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders as mentor.

New Delhi: The official deadline for the application of India team’s head coach ended on 27 May, a day after the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League concluded. There have been several reports of coaches being approached for the job which the BCCI Secretary later clarified that nothing such has been done. As per a report on cricbuzz, a high-profile owner of an IPL franchise, who close to the BCCI has informed them that Gambhir’s appointment is a done deal and announcement will be done soon.

Reports further add that Gambhir has told his close people that he is considering the job and even Kolkata Knight Riders Owner, Shah Rukh Khan is also aware of it. He has most likely filed his application though there’s not confirmation yet.
