On Saturday, June 1, India and Bangladesh are scheduled to play a warm-up match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. Captains Rohit Sharma and Najmul Hossain Shanto heaped appreciation on the three-month-old stadium in New York before the match.
With a seating capacity of 34,000, the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium was constructed in under three months. On June 3, it will host its first T20 World Cup 2024 match, a Group D match between Sri Lanka and South Africa. But the practice game between Bangladesh and India will be a great warm-up.
Prior to the match, Shanto and Rohit visited the venue and were enthralled with the amenities on offer. The former called the stadium’s last-minute construction absurd. He expressed his excitement about performing there.
It’s astounding. It seems insane to me. We all witnessed, after all, that there was nothing on the internet three months ago. It feels amazing and now has the appearance of a real stadium.
I didn’t anticipate the Eastern grandstand in particular to be this way. I consider it to be almost a true stadium. The terrain seems excellent on its own. This is a real cricket field,” Shanto informed the ICC.To be quite honest, I didn’t anticipate something like this, but we have all been following the wicket’s appearance and the ground’s layout on social media, and we are all extremely interested in what will happen next. It looks insane to me and feels fantastic,” he said.
The Indian skipper was eager to perform at the gorgeous location as well.
He expressed gratitude to everyone who put in a lot of labor to prepare the stadium for the major event.“It seems stunning. It’s a rather open area. I’m very excited to experience the stadium atmosphere when we get here and play our first game. It also has a respectable capacity. “Hopefully, it will be a memorable one,” the renowned cricket player said.
Bangladesh just lost their T20I series against the United States 1-2. Since they competed in the Indian Premier League 2024 for two months straight, the Indian players have been in T20 mode for a while.
